The Manzanar Committee is dedicated to educating and raising public awareness about the incarceration and violation of civil rights of persons of Japanese ancestry during World War II, and to the continuing struggle of all peoples when Constitutional rights are in danger.

Japanese American Collection & Japanese American Oral Histories
The collection is comprised of original documents, including letters, photographs, diaries, scrapbooks, newsletters, artwork, clothing and artifacts. The collection provides valuable insights into the history of Japanese American communities in northern California, particularly in the town of Florin, California from the late 19th century and into the 20th century. The collection contains significant documentation related to the internment of Japanese-born and Japanese American individuals during World War II and continues to serve as a valuable resource to a broad range of users, including scholars, teachers, students, writers, journalists and documentary film producers.

Founded in 1929, the JACL is the oldest and largest Asian American civil rights organization in the United States. The JACL monitors and responds to issues that enhance or threaten the civil and human rights of all Americans and implements strategies to effect positive social change, particularly to the Asian Pacific American community.
